Lyla Mae Kellum was born in Bingham Lake, Minnesota on 11 Sep 1916, daughter of Irving and Hazel (Morton) Kellum. She attended Hamline University in St. Paul, MN and graduated in 1938 with a BA Degree. It was there that she met her future husband Robert Liljestrand. Lyla Mae Kellum and Robert Stratton Liljestrand were married on 24 June 1939 in St. Paul, Minnesota. Shortly thereafter they moved to Woods Hole, Massachusetts. Their apartment was on the second floor over a beauty shop. Today, the first floor space is now the Woods Hole Provisions grocery and deli on Water Street.
