Chauncey Hardy was born on 8 Nov 1845 in Little Falls, New York, son of Marvin Hardy and Frances North. He married three times and has his six children, all born in Jordan, New York, with his second wife Emma Rose Perkins (1855-1909). The following records and photographs help chronicle his life.

Chauncey Hardy and the Paper Mill Business
In the 1870 census, Chauncey was living next door to his father Marvin in Jordan with his 1st wife Christiana McBurney and her brother James. They worked in Marvin’s paper mill business of Strawboard Manufacturer.

1900 Census
In the 1900 census, Chauncey was a landlord living in Jordan with his 2nd wife Emma Perkins, their five children: Ethel (16), Marvin (15), Bertelle (13), Norris (7) and Milford (3), and her widowed mother Rosetta (77). Chauncey and Emma married 13 Sep 1882 in Jordan, a year after the death of his first wife Christiana.

Death in 1921
Chauncey Hardy died 19 Sep 1921 in Jordan at the age of 75. He was a “prominent resident” upon his death and left substantial property to his 3rd wife Lena and money to his children by Emma (who died in 1909).
